JAFRAL Joins Research Project on Nanobodies and Gene Therapy Vectors

JAFRAL is participating as a consortium partner in a newresearch project focused on the development of innovative biotechnologysolutions for future therapeutic applications.

The project brings together the University of Ljubljana,Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, the Jožef Stefan Institute, andJAFRAL, with the aim of developing two target products: nanobodies against thetau protein, which is associated with several neurodegenerative diseases, and aplasmid vector for gene therapy applications.

The project will explore the development and selection ofhighly specific nanobodies targeting pathogenic forms of tau, as well as aplasmid-based vector designed as a potential safer alternative to viral vectorsfor gene therapy. Particular attention will be given to the use of anantibiotic-resistance-free selection system, supporting improved biologicalsafety.

Throughits expertise in biotechnology development and manufacturing, JAFRALcontributes to the project with knowledge and capabilities relevant to thedevelopment and production of advanced biological products.
